News from the Farm: Awesome Farm Visiting Day
Hey friends and local food eaters,
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to our farm visiting day on Saturday! The weather was AMAZING (for a change...our last few open farm days were cool and rainy). The pig was roasted to perfection, the potluck dishes were delicious, and the music from Hank was truly lovely.
The small crowd was full of little children, and we loved that folks brought their own chairs and blankets and made themselves comfortable to eat and hang out on the lawn!
We just wanted to send a quick note to say that we are grateful for your interest in knowing where your food comes from, and for sharing that interest and experience with your children. We are so happy to be able to provide these gatherings for you, and we greatly enjoy them as well. The chance for us to get to know more of you really is valuable to us.
Brooks' tour was a hit, especially the visit with the little piggies! Everybody was told to sit down in there, so as not to scare them. They they eventually get curious and come over and sniff you.
And another thank you to all of our helpers, you know who you are, what a lot of work made easy with you guys!
These are our girls holding baby ducklings - they hatched the morning after the farm day, one day too late!
I also wanted to share a siting of the lamb I call 'Panda' - this lamb has the coolest wool coloring, but is very shy and hard to get close to!
Our sheep had their wool shorn by Brooks two days before the farm day, just in time to cool off and show off their new haircuts.
We hope to see all of you next Farm Visiting Day - October 7!
Thanks as always for supporting local foods,
~Anna
